SERVERS AND NETWORKING

Windows Server Support, Upgrades and Migration

Keep your servers secure, supported and running. We manage Windows Server environments and plan upgrades and migrations before support runs out, including Windows Server 2016, which reaches end of support on 12 January 2027.

Do not let your server run out of support

Microsoft ends extended support for Windows Server 2016 on 12 January 2027. After that date, newly found security vulnerabilities will not receive standard patches, which is a real risk for any business still relying on it. Windows Server 2019 is supported until 9 January 2029.

Your options are to upgrade to a current version such as Windows Server 2025, move workloads to the cloud, or buy paid Extended Security Updates while you plan. We help you choose and carry it out.

Beyond upgrades, we monitor, patch, back up and secure servers for businesses that keep them on site.

Windows Server questions

What businesses ask us about server support.

When does Windows Server 2016 reach end of support?

Extended support ends on 12 January 2027. After that, Microsoft stops providing standard security updates and technical support.

What happens if we keep running it?

The server keeps working, but new vulnerabilities will not be patched through normal updates, which raises your security and compliance risk. Microsoft has announced paid Extended Security Updates as a short-term option.

Is Windows Server 2019 still supported?

Yes. Extended support for Windows Server 2019 runs until 9 January 2029.

Can we move to the cloud instead of upgrading?

Often, yes. Many businesses move file shares and applications to Microsoft 365 and Azure and retire the server. We will tell you if on-premises is still the better fit.

How long does a migration take?

It depends on the number of servers and applications. We scope the timeline in the planning stage and schedule cutover to suit your business.
