What is an Ericsson-LG iPECS system?
iPECS is the business phone system range from Ericsson-LG, known in Australia as LG Nortel and later LG Aria. It has been popular with Australian businesses for around 20 years because it is easy to use and does a lot.
Most staff pick up an iPECS handset and use it straight away. Behind that sits voicemail, auto attendant, call recording, softphones, remote workers and multi-site networking.
We look after iPECS systems for businesses all over Australia. If yours is playing up, needs a change or needs a part, call us.
Talk to our teamWhich iPECS system do you have?
Two iPECS systems cover most small and medium businesses. The eMG100 is a hybrid system that works with traditional phone lines and SIP. The UCP100 is IP only. Both work with older iPECS hardware, so an upgrade rarely means replacing everything.
iPECS eMG100 (up to 74 users)
A hybrid system that runs IP, digital, DECT and softphone handsets. Works with PSTN, ISDN and SIP lines.
Includes voicemail, auto attendant, 32 party conferencing and call recording, with multi-site networking, an open API and optional call centre, PC softphone and receptionist console applications.
eMG100 support
iPECS UCP100 (up to 199 users)
An IP only system for small to medium businesses. Runs IP, digital, DECT and IP DECT handsets and softphones over SIP trunks, with up to 8 port voicemail and auto attendant.

iPECS pros and cons
An honest look at the Ericsson-LG iPECS eMG100 and UCP systems.
Easy to use
Handsets are simple and familiar. Staff learn the basics in minutes.
Works with your lines
The eMG100 runs on traditional lines and SIP. The UCP is SIP only. Both are NBN ready.
Plenty of handsets
IP, digital, DECT, IP DECT and softphones across the 1000i, 8000 and 9000 ranges.
Mobile and remote working
The iPECS UCS app puts your office phone on a mobile or PC, and the system links multiple sites.
The basics are built in
Voicemail, auto attendant, voicemail to email, conferencing and a firewall come with the platform. Call recording is an option.
Easy to manage
Admin and programming are straightforward, so small changes don't need a call-out.
What to watch
How well an iPECS system works depends on how well it was programmed. If calls route oddly or features go unused, a review usually fixes it.
The short version
iPECS is a solid, flexible system for most small and medium businesses. Keep it programmed and maintained and it will keep working. Call us on 02 6061 4222.

eMG100 questions
Do I need VoIP to run an eMG100?
No. The eMG100 works with traditional PSTN and ISDN lines (ISDN2, and ISDN 10, 20 and 30) as well as SIP. You can move to VoIP over the NBN or another internet service at any time without changing the hardware.
Is the eMG100 NBN ready?
Yes. If you already have the NBN you can use SIP straight away. If not, the system is ready for when you do.
Can I use it on mobiles, tablets and PCs?
Yes. iPECS UCS is an app for Android, iOS and desktop that connects you to the phone system anywhere you have 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi. It adds visual voicemail, instant messaging, video conferencing and a collaboration whiteboard.
Can I expand an eMG100?
Yes. You can add capacity, link multiple sites and connect remote workers.
Which handsets work with it?
The eMG100 works with every Ericsson-LG IP and digital handset. LIP-9000 series: LIP-9071, 9040C, 9040, 9030, 9020, 9010, 9008G, 9008 and 9002. LDP-9000 series: LDP-9240D, 9224DF, 9224D and 9208D. Wireless: GDC-800H, GDC-500H/480H and WIT-400HE.
See all iPECS handsets
What features does it have?
Standard features are voicemail, voicemail to email, auto attendant, day and night greetings, transfer, conferencing, speakerphone and speed dials.
Advanced applications include iPECS UCS (presence, instant messaging, video conferencing for up to 6 users and mobile UC), the iPECS Attendant Console for receptionists (with hospitality features such as check in and out, wake up calls and room status), and iPECS CCS contact centre (reporting, call recording, encrypted recording and recording of up to 13 parties). You only pay for what you use.
iPECS UCP100 support
A pure IP iPECS system that scales from 2 to 2,400 users.
The iPECS UCP is an IP only phone system for small to medium businesses, and it scales across multiple sites. We support UCP100 systems and the larger UCP range.
Which size do I need?
The eMG100 and the iPECS UCP series are the two starting points. Above those, the enterprise models scale to tens of thousands of users. The underlying technology is the same, so systems can be combined to suit your setup.
What does an iPECS include?
Networking, multimedia applications, unified messaging, unified communications, call centre applications, softphone, PC attendant, mobility and conferencing, plus IP call recording and built-in voicemail.
Do I have to use VoIP?
The UCP uses SIP. If the NBN or another suitable internet service isn't available at your site yet, talk to us about the options. The eMG100 can run on traditional lines.
Is the UCP NBN ready?
Yes. It is purpose built for IP and works with the NBN.
Which handsets can I connect?
The UCP and eMG100 both take the Ericsson-LG IP and digital handsets: LIP-9071, 9040C, 9040, 9030, 9020, 9010, 9008G, 9008, 9002, LDP-9240D, 9224DF, 9224D, 9208D, and the GDC-800H, GDC-500H/480H and WIT-400HE wireless handsets.
See all iPECS handsets
What about cordless and mobile?
The iPECS connects IP DECT and DECT handsets such as the GDC-800H and GDC-500H, and the iPECS UCS app puts the office phone on a mobile or computer, so staff can work from anywhere.

Printing iPECS handset labels
Each handset comes with a label sheet for its programmable keys. These guides show you how to print your own for iPECS LIP-8000, LDP-9000, LIP-9000 and LDP-9200 handsets. Take it slowly, because the print has to line up.
LIP-8000 series
Download the LIP-8000 label template. It covers the LIP-8004D, LIP-8012D and LIP-8024D.
Download the LIP-8000 label templateFind your handset's sheet in Excel and type the names for each quick dial key.
Print with 'No Scaling' selected, cut around the labels, slip the plastic cover off the handset and put the labels inside.
LDP-9000 series
The spreadsheet has a template for each handset: the LDP-9008D (8 buttons), the LDP-9030D (30 buttons) and the LDP-9048DSS add-on (48 buttons, which replaces the shortcut keys on an LDP-9030D).
Download the LDP-9000 series label template (Excel, needs macros)
1. Download the spreadsheet. 2. Type each person's name in the right space.
3. Print a test on plain A4 first. If you're unsure which way your printer prints, write 'top' on a sheet and load it face up. Enable macros, then click the print button on the right of the spreadsheet.
4. Hold the test print over the supplied labels. If it doesn't line up, change the offset values on the right and reprint until it does.
5. Print on the pre-perforated labels, separate them from the backing paper and stick them on the handset.
LIP-9000 series
Download the PowerPoint template for your handset or add-on.
LIP-9010 template LIP-9012DSS template LIP-9020 template LIP-9024DSS templateReplace the 'Key in here' text with your names. In PowerPoint, print with 'Print All Slides' and don't use 'Scale to paper', as that makes everything too small.
Cut around the grey areas, open the clear window on the handset and put the labels inside. If they don't match up, check you printed at 100% scale and print again.
LDP-9200 series
Download the PowerPoint template for your handset, enter the names and print using the same steps as the LIP-9000 series.

Add or change a speed dial in the web dashboard
Your iPECS stores a directory of numbers. Staff can search it by name or dial a speed dial code such as 202. Bulk uploads are a separate process, but you can add or edit single entries yourself in the web dashboard.
1. Log in to your iPECS web dashboard. On the same network as the phone system the address usually starts with https://phone.companyname.com.au.
2. From the left menu choose System Data, then System Speed Dial (you may need to scroll).
New contact: tick a free slot, set Co Type to Loop, enter the full number with the dialling code (02, 03, 04 and so on), enter the name and click Save at the top right.
Existing contact: tick it, edit the details and save.
Divert calls
PSTN lines: pick up the line using the call management buttons, press *73 then the mobile number then #, and hang up when you hear the confirmation. To cancel, pick up the line, press #73# and hang up on the confirmation.
Telstra Business SIP (existing customers): go to https://portal.mycalling.telstra.com/login and log in. Choose Feature Packs, then Edit under Business Continuity, pick the number and assign. Then choose SIP Trunk, find Business Continuity, select all under Forward to, enter the number and apply.
Change holiday greetings (eMG100 message bank)
Important: if you have professionally recorded messages loaded, call us first. These steps can overwrite them. This method also overwrites the current holiday message, so you will need to re-record your night message afterwards.
1. Press Trans/Pgm. 2. Press 0 for attendant. 3. Enter your password (your extension number plus password). 4. Choose option 6, then 001 for day, 002 for night or 003 for holiday. 5. Press 1. 6. Press # to start recording. 7. Press Hold/Save to save.
To switch the system between day, night and holiday mode, press DND, then 1 for day, 2 for night or 3 for holiday, and press Hold/Save.
Use the iPECS UCS app
iPECS UCS runs on Android, iOS and desktop and connects you to your phone system anywhere you have 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi. You can use much of the desk phone functionality in or out of the office.
