What is the 3-2-1 backup rule?
Keep three copies of your data, on two different types of storage, with one copy offsite. It protects you from hardware failure, theft, disasters and ransomware.
Does Microsoft back up my Microsoft 365 data?
Microsoft keeps the service running, but you are responsible for your data. A separate backup protects you from accidental deletion, ransomware and account compromise.
How often are backups taken?
It depends on how much data you can afford to lose. Daily is a common minimum, and critical systems can be backed up more often.
How long does a restore take?
It depends on how much data you need back and which system it is. We agree realistic recovery times when we set up the service.
Can backups survive ransomware?
Yes, when they are stored offsite and protected against changes. We use immutable storage where it is available so attackers cannot delete or encrypt your backups.
